The sun was finally shining and the ground was radiating heat. Butterflies and dragonflies flitted among the dandelions and the long grass. The gentle hum of summer provided a perfect soundtrack to our stroll in the Aubonne arboretum.
In every season the arboretum is a cherished destination for a family outing, so Kevin and Louise chose it as the location for their family photography session. They suggested we take a tour of little Thomas’s favourites spots starting with a shady pond where Kevin scooped up handfuls of tadpoles for his son to see. Grasping a toy train, Thomas was quite content throwing stones into the dark waters, watching as the ripples as they plopped into the depths.
Wrenching him away from his game, we wandered up the hill to the ‘dangly tree’ – an intriguing fir that has been trained over an archway. Thomas sat on dad’s shoulders to be able to grab at the hanging branches and gave us some fabulous expressions in the process!
Reaching the top of the hill we were rewarded with a stunning view over Lac Léman in the distance, so we stopped for a snack and to play some English games with the flowers: buttery buttercups and time-telling dandelion clocks!
Our next stop was the lakeside at St. Prex. With the clouds darkening over the French border we watched the ferry trundle past and found a few more spots from which to launch stones into the water! With the gorgeous afternoon light reflecting in the water’s gentle ripples, I was able to capture some beautiful family shots that will look unique and contemporary on the luxury oak-framed canvas the family have chosen for their home – I can’t wait to see the finished product!
After the shoot we were treated to a cooling drink and a yummy assiette of meat and cheese as we watched the dark rain clouds creep towards us – what a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!
