Sometimes really wonderful things can happen when creative people get together and work together. For long time now I have wanted to collaborate with other Swiss-based wedding vendors to try to bring a little Anglo-American style inspiration to Swiss brides.The beginnings of an idea came over year ago at my first Lausanne salon du mariage when I met Lucy and Olga when introduced myself and proposed that we might work together in the future. Almost exactly a year later Lucy and I met in the Chalet RoyAlp in Villars-sur-Ollon to discuss some ideas. We eventually settled on an Art Deco inspired styled shoot loosely influenced by the new great Gatsby movie and the 20-30s revival of recent years. From that point on Lucy used her great skills of persuasion to bring on-board the fabulous Hôtel des Trois Couronnes, designer wedding boutique Belle en Blanc and Asclépiade Fleurs, all of whose ideas and creativity influenced the final shoot.
We played with the original influences of Art Deco in the geometry and motifs of Egypt, in particular papyrus and peacock feathers. A lucky find on the bespoke fabric website Spoonflower influenced Ara’s final design for the paper products. While the incredible peacock feather nest centrepiece came straight from the amazing imagination of Hervé.
