All week the weatherman had been predicting thunderstorms but we managed to stay dry until late in the evening for Joanne and Eric’s wedding near Morges, Switzerland.
When I arrived at Joanne’s parents’ home in Lausanne, the place was filled with girly anticipation. With makeup and professional guidance from Léa, Joanne’s cousin, it was clear she was in good hands. This was a day they had been planning since they were children, everything was going to be perfect starting with a gorgeous satin La Sposa wedding dress.
Stocked up on croque monsieurs from the Rochet kitchen, I headed out to meet up with the guys in Bursins as they tried not to get too stressed before the ceremony. Eric even helped with some wedding ring styling – a cute touch was to have their finger prints engraved on the inside.
The ceremony was held in the Temple de Bursins and the little church was filled with beautiful music courtesy of Madrijazz. Exiting to thousands of bubbles, Eric and Joanne were congratulated by their family and friends before group photos and a procession of cars toward Yens for the apéro.
Looking out over the Morges vineyards towards Lac Léman, we were treated to a flock of Pelicans resting in a nearby field – perhaps a good omen for the happy couple! With lots of yummy goodies for the guests and a candy bar for the kids (young and old!), it was a warm family event. The lovely bride even put in an appearance with her gospel choir and the groom was press ganged into giving it a go!
As we left the apéro to take some early evening portraits in the vines, Eric and Joanne had a few moments together to appreciate their special day. What a classy pair!
The beautifully decorated Salle villageoise at Senarclarens was an exceptional example of DIY wedding decoration with the couple having individually written each guest’s name on a stone. The evening continued with warm speeches and presentations, and of course the traditional Swiss wedding games.
As the storm finally hit, the newly weds took to the floor for their first dance and I left them to twirl the night away. Joanne et Eric, merci de m’avoir choisi comme photographe pour votre mariage si special. Je vous souhaite une vie longue et heureuse ensemble.
