It’s lovely to be able to travel to new places to photograph people in love and for me Wettingen was completely new! I met up with Taoyi and Judith in the hairdressers as the finishing touches were going on and then we headed to Judith’s apartment to meet up with Taoyi’s parents who had flown in from China. There was a little buzz of excitement in the air as I photographed Taoyi’s beautiful and unusual dress – also all the way from China. Judith made sure that her sister-in-law had everything she needed and took time to make us all sit and eat! It was lovely to see two families coming together so seamlessly.
Taoyi and Christoph had opted for a first look for their couple portraits before the church ceremony, which gave us plenty of time for mini delays and some perfect late summer pictures together. While the bride hid away, we gathered in the beautiful Klosterkirche Wettingen to wait for her grand entrance.
The bells rang out as Judith and Simon scattered rose petals at the newly weds feet, leading them to their apéro in the monastery gardens. After drinks, nibbles and group photos we slipped off for a few last sunset photos and a little bit of time alone before an extraordinary buffet fusion of Switzerland and China provided by Gasthof Sternen.
The evening ended with a lantern release – red for good luck! – and I left the happy couple waltzing the night away with a piece of cake pressed into my hand by Taoyi’s mum! Taoyi and Christoph, I wish you all the very best for the future and wonderful travels in India.
