I first ‘met’ Mila and Oliver via Skype and was delighted that they chose me to be their wedding photographer for their special day in May. At their pre-wedding shoot at the Château de Chillon, Montreux, Mila was preparing to move out to Switzerland from the UK and start a new life with her new husband, and by their wedding week the couple were already settling into Swiss life.

Clouds raced over the sky as I met up with Mila and her bridesmaids at Dessanges, Vevey. Everything had been carefully planned and Mila was relaxed and bubbly while her hair and makeup were finished off. As we waited for our sandwiches to arrive we chatted about everyone’s roles in the day and tried to decide whether or not Mila should wear her veil. Still undecided, my assistant for the day, Talissa, and I headed up to Église St-Denis in Châtel-Saint-Denis to catch up with Oliver.

In the end it was lovely to see that Mila opted for a traditionally elegant veil, allowing for a wonderful moment as Olivier lifted up the fabric to steal his first kiss. 

After some exceptionally well organised family groups we returned to the Grand Hôtel du Lac under brilliant sunshine for some couple shots by the hotel and lake. After a little practice from their pre-wedding session I barely posed the happy couple. Olivier was so taken with his beautiful bride he couldn’t take his eyes off her and we were able to capture some wonderfully natural elegant poses which will look stunning in their wedding album.

As the sun grew lower in the sky the apéro began and for me this is a great time for candid wedding photography. Thanks to Talissa’s assistance I was able to take a step back and really enjoy trying to capture Mila and Olivier’s guests enjoying the last of the sunshine around the pool of the Grand Hôtel.

The Grand Salle Viennoise looked perfect decked out in white flowers, complimenting Mila’s style and setting the scene for an evening of tri-lingual speeches and much laughter and dancing.

Mila and Olivier, thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer and for all the trust that you put in me. It was a great joy to spend such a perfect Swiss wedding day with you and I wish you a long and happy life together.
