After Stéphanie’s wonderful attention to detail for her pregnancy shoot a couple of months earlier, I couldn’t wait to see what she would do for her baby shower photo shoot. In contrast to the romantic feminine vibe of the maternity pictures, she chose elegant neutrals in white, silver and blue to celebrate her last month of pregnancy with her friends. In keeping with her modern spin on a vintage nursery, all the details were beautifully simple and helped set the tone for a classic afternoon tea with the girls – complete with apple crumble! Chatting with some of the girls there was much interest in the concept of a baby shower – which is only just starting to become popular in Switzerland. A confessed anglophile, Stéphanie loves to pour over American baby blogs and had been inspired to bring this fun tradition to her friends in Gland. The ladies loved the idea of getting together and sharing games and presents over tea and cookies – and the odd glass of champagne.
As well as some traditional present opening, cooing over the cute clothes and toys – and all the fun of working out what the strange contraptions were – Stéphanie had prepared a guessing game for her guests. Each baby shower guest had to pick a name, date of birth, weight and length for her son-to-be. She also played on a popular wedding game by handing out nappy and onesie cards with suggestions for things her friends could do to help the family get through their first year together.
For her baby shower pictures, Stéphanie had asked me to capture the details as well as candid shots of her with her friends and family. The photos will go together in her Storybook album along with her maternity pictures in the woods of Aubonne and her newborn shoot, for a wonderful memento of this special time.
