A family friendly wedding day
Katherine and Samuel had planned a wedding day to include all their friends and family in Switzerland so we made sure that their pre-wedding session was also a family affair. Choosing a perfect spot just above Lac Léman, Katherine enlisted the help of a friend to look after her two children while we captured some rare photos of the two of them. The small footpaths around the vines made for a safe place for the children to play and watch their parents have their photos taken.
Relaxed couple photos
I know how difficult it can be to find time to have a ‘practice’ wedding photography session if you already have a family so I encourage my couples to include their children. This not only means you have the opportunity to have some photos of just the two of you but bonus family pictures too. Katherine’s children were great fun, watching their parents from the footpath and making them laugh. I take a really relaxed approach to family sessions, with the aim for everyone to have fun. This makes for a wonderful atmosphere and some beautifully natural portraits of everyone.
Children’s photos
If you bring your family along there will always be time to get some portraits of your children. Having watched her parents, little Adri was only too happy to pose for the camera, and we were able to get some lovely shots of her and dad. As for her baby brother, it was just a case of catching him and anticipating where he would look next. With the whole family to help it was a bundle of laughs and a lot of fun for everyone.
Having already captured Katherine’s maternity photos and baby David’s newborn shots, I knew the family quite well but spending more time with them before the wedding day meant that the children weren’t shy on the big day and their photos were more natural.
