Family wedding

After spending the afternoon before on a mini hike with Kiriko, Brian and their families in the splendid sunshine, it was a shame to see the clouds gathering on the morning of their wedding day. When I arrived at their apartment, however, I found everyone in high spirits. Kiriko’s family and Brian were getting ready in the main apartment and Kiriko was hiding away in the master bedroom with her mum and makeup artist. With uncles and cousins wandering around trying to work out how to tie bow ties, breakfast and flowers arriving, there was a wonderfully infectious excited ambiance.

We set up a first look on the apartment’s balcony with an almost view of the Matterhorn through the clouds. Then set off in our Zermatt cabs to the Gornergratbahn where we met up with Brian’s family and headed up the mountain for family formals.

On top of the world

Kiriko and Brian are true adventurers. With their family in Japan and the USA they decided to meet in the middle and Zermatt held a special place in their hearts. It was only fitting that we did their family group shots on the top of the Gornergrat, with the world spread out below. Definitely the most spectacular family photos I have shot so far!

Although the sun was not shining, no spirits were dampened. The couple love the mountains and know how capricious they can be. The views were still stunning, with the Matterhorn coming in and out of view through the cloud, and the light beautiful for portraits.

The tiniest chapel

The ceremony took place a little down the mountain in Riffelberg. The families walked to the tiny chapel led by the bride and groom, and the wedding itself was intimate, personal and full of emotion.

Afterwards they had an apéro and some more photos outside the Riffelhaus hotel before going for couple shots on the hill. Kiriko and Brian were so full of energy and fun, they kept asking to jump and run, and karate kick! If the Matterhorn didn’t quite make a full appearance, it didn’t matter. These two were in their element and doing it together.

Brian and Kiko chose a personalised wedding photography collection for their two-day wedding in Zermatt. I spent the afternoon with the couple and their family the day before the wedding, exploring the lakes and views of the Matterhorn. From this session they chose 20 of their favourite couple photographs as hi-resolution files to download and print at home. On their wedding day we met at their rented apartment in Zermatt for bride and groom preparations photos. Then we set out all together on the Gornergratbahn for wedding family formals overlooking the glacier and the valley below. Their wedding coverage included an intimate ceremony in Riffelberg and apéro photography, as well as time apart for some very special wedding photographs of the bride and groom.

For 2018 I am offering one wedding collection with everything you need as well as à la carte pricing for your wedding photography in Switzerland or abroad.
