A Wedding in Crans Montana
Natalie and Alex booked me to photograph their wedding in Switzerland, choosing the stunning alpine village of Crans Montana as the backdrop for their big day. They planned a small outdoor ceremony surrounded by family and friends, with a relaxed atmosphere that reflected who they are.
The couple wanted natural photography that captured the real emotions of the day. Like many couples, they felt a little nervous about being the centre of attention. With my discreet and flexible approach to wedding photography, they were able to relax and feel like I was simply another guest. To help them feel even more comfortable, we also spent time on their engagement shoot in Crans Montana. This gave them the chance to try out poses and get used to being in front of the camera before the wedding.
Outdoor Ceremony at Hôtel de l’Etrier
The morning of the wedding in Crans Montana began with glorious sunshine and blue skies. Their ceremony took place in the beautiful grounds of Hôtel de l’Etrier, a perfect setting with breathtaking mountain views.
Alex greeted guests with a mix of nerves and excitement, while Natalie chose to spend her morning privately with her family instead of having preparation photos. I focused on capturing the venue details, the flowers, and the vibrant rainbow-themed reception room set up for later.
Natalie made her entrance via wooden steps at the edge of the hotel, wearing a fabulous 1950s-style wedding dress. Alex, waiting with his back turned, saw her only when she stepped in front of him – a magical and emotional moment.
The ceremony was led by two close friends, with heartfelt readings and personal vows. After the “I dos,” we gathered everyone for a full group photo before moving to the lawn for formal portraits framed by the Swiss Alps.
Cocktail Hour and Portraits
Cocktail hour took place under white umbrellas by the pool, where the couple mingled effortlessly with guests. Their laughter and joy set the tone for the rest of the day. Afterwards, I took Natalie and Alex aside for a private portrait session, capturing them as newlyweds against the stunning mountain scenery of Crans Montana.
Rainbow Colours and Clubbing-Themed Celebration
The rainbow theme carried through to the wedding reception. Each table had its own colour, creating a bold and beautiful effect with coordinated napkins, favours, and cards. The room also featured photos of the couple, plus a fun guest photo area with a book to collect memories throughout the night.
Dinner included heartfelt speeches, live piano music from a talented guest, and plenty of laughter. After cutting the cake, the celebration continued downstairs in the spa area, transformed into a disco and bar. Big fans of clubbing, Natalie and Alex created a party atmosphere with glow sticks, balloon lights, and a fantastic playlist that kept everyone dancing late into the night.
Wedding Albums to Treasure
To preserve their memories of their wedding in Crans Montana, Natalie and Alex chose luxury linen photo books with glossy pages, perfect for showing off the rainbow theme. They also gifted their parents beautiful smaller albums as a heartfelt thank-you.
