Geneva Newborn Lifestyle Shoot – Capturing Everyday Moments

Yuki and Hiro booked me for both maternity and newborn photography in Geneva. Living far from their families, they wanted to share the arrival of their first child with loved ones through authentic, heartfelt images. For their Geneva newborn lifestyle shoot, it was important to capture real, everyday moments that reflected their first days as parents.

Having just moved into their new home, we worked around unpacked boxes and used simple props to tell their story. Yuki chose a two-shoot collection with digital downloads so she could share photos with family in Japan and begin decorating their home with beautiful memories.

Natural At-Home Newborn Photography in Geneva

The shoot took place on a rainy late-autumn day, but the welcome inside their apartment was warm. Yuki and Hiro worried about the space not being fully unpacked, so we first walked through their home together. With just a few small adjustments, we created cosy, natural backdrops perfect for newborn photos.

We started in the living room with some relaxed family portraits before moving into more candid interactions. I love capturing genuine moments between parents and their baby—expressions of wonder, connection, and love. One of my favourite images from this Geneva newborn lifestyle shoot shows baby Misaki looking up intently as her parents spoke softly to her. These real moments often mean so much more than posed setups with elaborate props.

Tender Family Moments

As Yuki moved to the bedroom to feed, I captured quiet portraits of mother and baby. Using only natural light and photographing from a respectful distance allowed me to record this tender routine creatively. Later, Hiro joined them, and we made sure to capture a mix of images of each parent with Misaki as well as the three of them together as a family.

For Misaki’s individual portraits, we kept it simple—laying her on the bed wrapped in a blanket while Yuki stood nearby, talking gently to her. To add personality, we included her adorable Totoro feeding pillow in some photos, bringing a subtle touch of colour and character into the series.

One of the most meaningful moments was capturing Yuki’s mother with her granddaughter. She had travelled all the way from Japan to meet Misaki, and her love and pride were so clear. Grandparents sometimes hesitate to be in photos, but including them creates priceless memories that future generations will cherish.

Why Choose a Geneva Newborn Lifestyle Shoot

For Misaki’s session, the focus was always on natural, simple interactions. I encourage families to relax, talk, and play with their baby so they forget about the camera. By adapting to each baby’s rhythm, I’m able to capture genuine moments that reflect the real experience of new parenthood.

Newborn sessions can last up to four hours, but the most cherished images are often the simplest—babies resting in their parents’ arms. These timeless portraits become treasured memories for years to come.
