A Magical Château de Chillon Engagement Shoot
Mila and Olivier had booked me to photograph their wedding in Vevey just after Christmas. This gave us plenty of time to connect, discuss their wedding plans, and decide on the types of images they wanted. Since they weren’t living in Vevey at the time, they had limited options for a pre-wedding engagement shoot. We chose an early evening Château de Chillon engagement shoot, allowing time for a coffee and chat afterwards.
It was early spring, and I wanted to capture the freshness of the season: bright green leaves on the trees, the warming sun, and the clear blues of Lac Léman reflecting the sky. The couple hoped to use some images in their wedding invitations and possibly in a guest book, so we scheduled the shoot a couple of hours before sunset to get a wide variety of shots. Walking along the lakeside, we found plenty of opportunities for beautiful, natural poses.
Soft Light for Natural Romance
The path along the lake between Montreux and Villeneuve offers charming little spots perfect for a Château de Chillon engagement shoot: a pine wood, a weeping willow, spring blossoms, wooden jetties, and even a small beach. Rising in the background, the magnificent 12th-century Château de Chillon creates a fairytale setting, perfect for romantic photography.
We began the shoot in a quiet spot away from evening walkers. Starting with simple poses from a distance helped Mila and Olivier relax in front of the camera. As they grew more comfortable, Mila suggested poses, and we captured natural, candid moments that reflected their personalities. By the end, they enjoyed the session so much they almost didn’t want to stop as the sun set.
