Chateau d’Oron Wedding Photography: Ivan & Francesca’s Magical Day
Ivan and Francesca booked me to capture their wedding at the stunning Château d’Oron in Vaud, Switzerland. Their celebration was a partly destination wedding, with Francesca travelling from Italy on the day itself, so the first time we met was at the castle.
I usually recommend a pre-wedding shoot to help couples feel at ease in front of the camera. But Ivan and Francesca were so full of joy that working with them was an absolute pleasure from the start.
Capturing the Atmosphere and the People
The couple wanted more than just portraits—they wanted to capture the atmosphere, the laughter, and the love shared with friends and family. We took a short half-hour break away from cocktail hour to photograph some unique couple shots around the castle. Later, I focused on capturing the energy of their celebration as the party kicked off in the castle cellars.

From the moment I met the best man, it was clear this wedding would be unique. Francesca’s gown, covered in red roses, was breathtaking. Walking down the aisle with her bridesmaid, she almost upstaged the groom and best man! The ceremony was deeply emotional—Francesca’s heartfelt reaction during the vows is one of my all-time favourite moments.
Castle Courtyards, Cozy Fires, and First Dances
After family photos and drinks in the castle courtyard, we wandered around the grounds, capturing candid, joyful moments of the newlyweds. I especially loved Ivan’s socks perfectly matching Francesca’s dress—a small detail that adds so much personality to wedding photos.
Dinner brought two families together around a roaring fire, and the atmosphere was warm, intimate, and full of laughter. Francesca and Ivan’s first dance was a spectacular display of joy, and I made sure to capture every magical moment.
Modern Touches and Bespoke Wedding Albums
The couple added modern, personal touches to the traditional castle setting, creating a unique ambiance that made Château d’Oron wedding photography especially exciting.
