Autumn Maternity Shoot

Growing families

It’s always lovely to get an email from a past bride asking for maternity photos and it was really wonderful to hear from Müge because I could feel her excitement even in the email! Being already familiar with the way I work, she already had loads of great ideasand knew what she wanted from her shoots. Immediately she wanted an album and four shoots to document her baby’s life from bump to one year old, matching the album we created for her wedding photographs. The Storybook albums lend themselves to a growing family because the different cover styles can grow with you: from luxury white leather or silk for your wedding to colourful fabrics and prints for your family pictures.

Adding your personal touch

With her baby due around Christmas and the New Year we opted for an autumn maternity shoot in the Parc de l’Independence. Choosing the same location as their wedding photos was a lovely touch and the contrasts between the spring tulips and the autumn leaves gave for an excellent storyline on the passing of time.

Müge had really thought about how she wanted the images to look. She had chosen a wardrobe with a French flair, a little nod to the francophone part of Switzerland which this Turkish and British couple have made their home. As always, there was an element of fun and good-humour in her styling but that also worked perfectly with the autumn colours.

Outdoors or indoors

It can be difficult to schedule an autumn maternity shoot but we were lucky to have a crisp, clear day. As the couple live in Morges it was easy to plan the shoot in two parts. We started off in the park and then headed back to warm up and capture them relaxing in their apartment. Because it’s not possible to really plan the timing of your maternity shoot I recommend choosing a nearby green space – even just a back garden – and splitting the shoot. It can also be less stressful for mum as this is often the time in the pregnancy when it becomes more difficult to move around!
