Story of the photo

Welcome to my blog series ‘Story of the photo’. In these short posts, I would like to share with you the ideas and thinking behind some of my favourite shots. From the choices behind a particular pose or location to the effects of lighting and chance in my images, find out more about the way I work and what happens on a professional photo shoot. I share with you images from client shoots, my own fine art work as well as my travels.

My life revolves around photography, and I am always on the lookout for new ideas and ways to make my client’s images even more special. Many different sources feed into my inspiration for family, baby and wedding photo shoots. It can be beneficial to take a step back from time to time and analyse the choices I made or why one image stands out from a particular shoot. This is one of the ways I continuously develop my style, by trying out new things and then asking myself whether they worked or not. I use my fine art work as a place to explore new ideas that I can then bring into client shoots, having honed my skills and thought about how it might look in family portraits.

In each post, you will also find tips about booking and planning your own photo shoot. I am always happy to try new ideas and love to work collaboratively with other creative people. Nothing is too mad or difficult – I love to solve these kinds of challenges! If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, check out my fine art portfolio for inspiration and get in touch to chat about how we can create something extraordinary for you and your family.
