A pink and peach outdoor wedding

M & A booked me for their outdoor summer wedding in the vineyards overlooking Geneva. The day before I had photographed their civil ceremony and apéro in Veyrier. The couple wanted a relaxed approach to their photographs with a focus on the atmosphere of the event. With a large Indian family, the bride also needed me to get through a lot of group photos quickly so that they could get back to their guest and enjoying the beautiful summer evening. The couple wanted a wedding album for themselves and for both sets of parents, so it was essential to capture all the details of the day, from bride and groom preparation to the start of the party. They asked me for a second photographer so that we could include groom preparation photos and to have lots of variety in the ceremony and apéro pictures. If you are planning a big wedding, then it is always a good idea to opt for a second photographer.

Mixing friends and family at your wedding

The couple wanted both family and friends to enjoy their wedding so planned an event that would cater to all the different tastes. There was time in the morning to meet up with the bride and her friends for a very relaxed bridal preparation photos, while my second shooter hung out with the groom and his parents. The stunning pastel coloured flowers by Fleuriot Genève complemented the bride’s summery silk dress by Wilton Brides. And her jewellery was designed by her mother, handmade in India.

The ceremony was outdoors at the Domaine du Choully, in the shade of a marquee under an archway of flowers. With a fluid, natural approach there were heartfelt speeches and vows, and a fantastic joint thank you to parents from the happy couple.

Afterwards, guests could lounge in the sunshine and the gardens of the vineyard, enjoying the view over Geneva while we took group photos in the garden. I managed to convince the newlyweds to let me have a few minutes to take pictures of them at the end of the garden before we headed in for excellent food and music and dancing from the bride’s family.

Ideas for a unique wedding ceremony

By focusing on the things that were really important to them, M&A managed a blend of big family wedding and quality time to celebrate with their friends. They focused on a single location to cut down on travel time and let their guests enjoy themselves. The bride’s choice of pinks and peaches in her bouquet and accessories was complemented by the luscious greens of the outdoor location. With a marquee in case of rain and lots of shade, the Domaine du Choully was an inspired choice for their outdoor wedding. The quality of the food and wine meant that it was a luxurious occasion for everyone.

They opted for my top-of-the-range Storybook wedding albums. With their matt pages the colours of the wedding day lift off the page. By gifting albums to both sets of parents, M&A were able to share their happy memories and have something special to remember the wedding day.
